“Shaping sound to speak”
Service + Sound Adjustments
-
String instruments require regular servicing to remain protected, stable in pitch, and free in their sound. At the de la Mora violin workshop in Linz, in addition to this work, I devote myself to individual sound adjustment and tailor each measure to the needs of the instrument and the musician.
As a violin maker, I combine my craftsmanship experience with regular exchanges with renowned workshops, creating a wide range of possibilities for bringing sound and playing together into a harmonious whole.
Repair
-
From minor repairs to highly complex repair work, I care for your instrument with craftsmanship, precision, and professional guidance. Drawing on my experience with high-quality string instruments and an in-depth engagement with their substance and history, I offer repairs that preserve the instrument’s character and tonal identity.
Musicians are welcome to bring their instruments to the workshop so that any damage can be assessed together on site and a sensible, individually tailored solution can be found.
Purchase
-
From student instruments to characterful master instruments, I support you in the selection process with experience and care. My work as a violin maker directly informs well-founded recommendations, tailored to individual needs.
Through on-site sound adjustments, each instrument is carefully adapted to the respective musician. To support a carefully considered decision, instruments can be loaned for one week and experienced in a familiar environment or in the concert hall.
The Workshop
About Me
-
As a violin maker, I combine precision craftsmanship with a keen sense of sound and character—skills honed through my award-winning training at the violin-making school in Hallstatt and my practical experience in renowned workshops.
During my apprenticeship and beyond, I had the opportunity to deepen my knowledge under the renowned master violin maker Usa von Stietencron in Vienna. There, I was able to refine my techniques and learn specialized methods, including crack repairs and arch corrections using plaster casts.
After that, I worked in Franz Übelhör’s workshop in Linz, where I restored high-quality instruments and had the privilege of working with professional musicians from the Bruckner Orchestra, among others.
I am currently receiving commissions from the renowned violin-making workshop Marcel Richters in Vienna, particularly for complex repair work.
My work is rooted in the Central European classical music tradition and in instruments of the violin family. Regular professional exchange, work with instruments of diverse origins, and attentive listening in dialogue with musicians shape my approach. As a polyglot craftsman, I naturally move between a historically grounded musical culture and an international community of musicians.
I see my workshop as a quiet place of focused work and open dialogue, where instruments are cared for with respect for their substance and in harmony with the needs of the musicians.
